From Nike to nice and relaxed, former executive opens new ‘Hand & Stone’ spa in Sherwood

SHERWOOD, Ore. — After years in the corporate world, former Nike executive Guillem Ortega took a new direction in 2016 when he and his wife, Monica Rivares, opened their first Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa. Nearly a decade later, the couple is continuing to grow their business across the Pacific Northwest with their newest location in Sherwood.

Located at 21370 SW Langer Farms Parkway, Suite 138, the new spa will be the couple’s 14th Hand & Stone location in Oregon and Washington. They’re also working to build a strong local team of qualified massage therapists and estheticians to serve the community.

Originally from Spain, Guillem has lived and worked in several countries, including the Netherlands, before settling in Oregon. His experience at Nike and elsewhere helped shape his approach to business, operations and team building. Along with Monica, he hopes to bring that experience and a focus on hospitality to the Sherwood spa.

“We have been operating Hand & Stone spas in the Portland area for many years, and we have seen firsthand how much people value having a place where they can relax, take care of themselves and feel better,” Guillem said. “We are looking forward to creating new employment opportunities for massage therapists, estheticians and spa professionals in the area and becoming part of the local community.”

The Sherwood location will offer a range of massage and skin care services, including:

• Massage: Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, Himalayan salt stone, prenatal and oncology massage
• Facials and skin care treatments: Diamond Glow, LuminFusion with LightStim LED and Neveskin
• Skin care products: Dermalogica and IMAGE Skincare

The spa will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including weekends.

With years of experience operating Hand & Stone locations throughout Oregon and Washington, Guillem and Monica look forward to welcoming Sherwood residents and creating a place where people can make time for relaxation and wellness while building connections in the community.
