SHERWOOD, Ore. — A wave of new construction is quietly underway along the city’s walking paths — though most residents may have to look a little closer to notice it.

Dozens of fairy-sized housing units are nearing completion, potentially welcoming hundreds of new winged residents to the area in the coming weeks.

Designed with efficiency in mind, the compact developments feature a mix of multifamily configurations, maximizing limited square footage while preserving natural surroundings. Early site visits suggest strong demand among prospective fairy tenants.

Amenities include multicolored gravel pathways, pine needle canopies, walnut shell baskets and kayaks, and carefully landscaped grounds of pebbles, moss, and seasonal flower blossoms.

A standout feature is a large, covered hollow log serving as a shared community space, expected to host gatherings, celebrations, and other neighborhood events for incoming residents.

A draft set of rules from the newly formed Fairy Homeowners Association outlines quiet hours after dawn, strict limits on unauthorized glitter dispersal, and a requirement that all residents maintain “tasteful levels of enchantment” visible from shared pathways.

City officials have not yet commented on whether the developments meet current zoning requirements, but sources say enforcement may prove challenging given the scale of the structures.
