Sherwood Area Chamber of Commerce Column: Welcome new members
The Sherwood Area Chamber of Commerce's October column looks ahead to Chamber awards
By Dave Murray for the Sherwood Sun
SHERWOOD, Ore. — October always feels like a turning point in Sherwood. The air cools, the routines settle in, and our community starts to look toward the final stretch of the year. It’s a moment to pause, appreciate what’s growing around us, and recognize the people and businesses who make Sherwood stronger every single day.
Welcome to Our New Chamber Members
Over the past few months, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming new businesses into the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce. These owners and teams made a deliberate choice: they chose Sherwood. They chose our values, our energy, our people, and our future. That decision matters.
To every new member — thank you. Thank you for investing in our city. Thank you for bringing your ideas, your work ethic, and your belief that Sherwood is worth being part of. You’re not just opening your doors; you’re adding to the story of who we are. And as we head into the last few months of 2026, I want to encourage everyone in Sherwood to keep supporting the businesses that support our community. Shopping local isn’t an idle phrase — it’s a commitment. When you choose a Sherwood business, you choose neighbors. You’re choosing families. You’re choosing people who show up at our events, sponsor our programs, hire local talent, and reinvest in the place we all call home.
Every meal, every purchase, every appointment, every recommendation all strengthens the local economy that keeps Sherwood vibrant. Let’s continue to show our businesses that Sherwood stands behind them.
Looking ahead: November nominations open
This year has been about gratitude. November is about celebration. Beginning in November, the Chamber will open nominations for Sherwood’s most meaningful recognitions. Three of those include:
- Citizen of the Year Honoring someone whose leadership, service, and heart have made Sherwood better.
- Business of the Year Celebrating a business that demonstrates excellence, innovation, and a genuine commitment to our community.
- Educator of the Year Recognizing an educator who inspires students, supports families, and strengthens the future of Sherwood through their dedication.
These awards matter because they shine a light on the people who quietly make a difference. Every year, the nominations remind us that leadership doesn’t always look like a title — sometimes it looks like consistency, kindness, creativity, or simply showing up when others need you. Look for more information in November on how you can nominate and vote for these awards. It will be a rewarding community activity. We encourage residents, businesses, nonprofits, and community groups to participate. If someone has made an impact on your life or your work, tell us. Your nomination helps us honor the individuals who reflect the best of Sherwood.
Moving forward together
As we close out October, let’s continue welcoming new businesses, supporting local entrepreneurs, and recognizing the people who lift our community. Sherwood succeeds because we move forward together — business owners, educators, volunteers, families, and neighbors all contributing in their own way. Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for investing your time, your energy, and your belief in Sherwood’s future. The Chamber is proud to serve you, and we’re excited for the months ahead.
