Sherwood, Ore. — Buy-one, get-one free — and pick up some swag — at Ziggi’s Coffee for the first anniversary of the Sherwood location, 21003 S.W. Pacific Hwy. this Wednesday, January 21.

Ziggi’s drive-thru also just launched a new breakfast and lunch menu with more grab-and-go items, such as paninis, sandwiches, and egg bites. To boost the new menu, there’s a "Pick Two Make it You" promotion going on right now, where customers can choose a menu item and add a small drink for $1.

Karen Borman is the local Sherwood owner of the franchise. She works full-time as a nurse, and her husband works at Intel. Her two daughters help with the business, too.

“It gives us something to do together before they're even older,” Borman said. “(My favorite part about Ziggi’s is) being able to be involved with community events … seeing people bringing joy and seeing people happy, having fun, and living life.”

Because of COVID, it took Borman four years to finally open Ziggi’s in Sherwood, but now they are celebrating their well-earned first anniversary milestone.

“I enjoy the community of a coffee-shop atmosphere,” Borman said. “I just enjoy how supportive everybody (in Sherwood) is.”

Borman said she enjoys being involved in the Sherwood community with other organizations, activities, fundraisers, events like the Pirates of Pinehurst, and the Chamber of Commerce.

With Ziggi’s, she creates auction baskets and offers cardboard coffee carafes for larger get-togethers. The carafes come in 2.5-gallon or 5-gallon options.

“I just enjoy being out among people, doing things that are helpful, fun, and new,” Borman said. “I like to be in an environment where I feel like I am contributing however I can, so I do enjoy presenting a new option to Sherwood … something for the other side of the highway.”

Ziggi’s stands out from other coffee shops with its menu of fruit smoothies, sparkling sodas, energy infusions, blended coffee, chai and tea, and dirty sodas. There are kid-friendly options, diet-friendly options, and low-sugar options available as well.

"We have several options for those looking for less sugar, and gluten-free options. We currently have a large selection of 15 sugar-free flavors, and for those looking we have a gluten-free breakfast sandwich and gluten-free cinnamon bread," Borman said. "We also have a fun special drink menu just for the littles that are non-caffeinated."

Borman’s go-to order is the floated very cherry dirty soda with diet soda. Dirty soda, which is soda blended with cream and flavored syrups, comes over ice, blended, or floated — where vanilla powder is added to make it taste like an ice cream float.

“People need to know this tastes really good,” Borman said. "My husband's favorite is the sugar-free Irish cream latte; one daughter likes the spicy chai with oat milk; and the other's favorite is the Fireside (marshmallow, white chocolate, espresso, and steamed milk)— but she also likes the energy drinks depending on her mood. Ziggi's is the one place that we can go and there is something for everyone."

Borman's favorite new menu items are the pesto and turkey panini, and the cheesy chicken melt. She said her husband loves the ham and Swiss croissant sandwich.

“One of the biggest things we have now is we’re more diverse. We have dirty sodas, which is pretty new to this area,” Borman said. “Ziggi’s makes their own energy drink, so it’s a different base for the drink. Our flavor is unique to Ziggi’s.”

Customers can post their swag, like fun stickers, keychains, and air fresheners of dirty sodas, with their drinks to Ziggi's Instagram at @Ziggis_Sherwood.

"I can give you an inside sneak of what's to come for February. Hint: I'll take mine shaken, not stirred," Borman said.
