SHERWOOD, Ore. — A business serving man’s best friend is coming to Sherwood.

ScentHound, a grooming and hygiene company for pups, is slated to open up in the Cedar Creek Plaza shopping center near Planet Fitness.

ScentHound plans to open April 1.

ScentHound offers grooming for dogs including bathing with a towel-dry, ear cleaning, nail trims, teeth brushing, a six-point wellness check, plus extra services like haircuts and blow-dries. It uses a monthly membership model with three options to create useful service packages.

The franchise already has three locations in Oregon including Tigard, Hillsboro, and Cedar Mill. ScentHound started as a mobile dog grooming operation, then expanded to grooming salons.

Meridian Naber is a ScentHound assistant manager in Oregon who will manage the Sherwood location.

“In Tigard, we had a few (Sherwood) customers and pet parents who were traveling over there, so we got excited about really being involved and expanding over that direction,” Naber said. “We know lots of pups in the area, and we are really excited to help their overall health and build connections.”

Naber said the six-point wellness check includes teeth, nails, and glands, cleaning their ears, clipping their nails, and brushing their teeth, reviewing each checkpoint with the owners and tracking the dog’s progress and health.

“We’re really dog-first, so day in and day out we are focusing on what each individual dog’s needs are,” Naber said. “What really drew me to the company was being able to, dog by dog, really take our time to meet every one. I was really interested in overall, helping the dogs in the community that I'm able to be involved in, and also learning more about all of the pet parents in the area.”

Naber said ScentHound expects to be hiring different positions company-wide at multiple locations.

“We are community-focused, dog-first and we have a term: one pack. We really are a team,” Naber said. “We’re all in it together for the best health and sake of the dog. We are here for their dog’s health and to help them stay healthy for as long as possible.”
