A Portland food cart featuring fresh Maine lobster dishes has plans to be at Sherwood’s only cannabis dispensary — for just one afternoon.

Cousins Maine Lobster food cart is planning a pop-up day at Western Oregon Dispensary, 15025 S.W. Tualatin-Sherwood Rd., from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Avery Pope is the manager of Sherwood’s Western Oregon Dispensary, which also has locations in Hillsboro, Newberg, Cedar Mill, Beaverton, and Lake Oswego, and has plans to open up a new location soon near Lewis & Clark College in South Portland.

“We don’t (bring food carts) too often, sometimes we’ll do it for some of our sale days or big holidays,” Pope said. “I’m a big seafood person, and a lot of our clientele are very aware of the Cousins Maine Lobster.”

The Cousins Maine Lobster brand, famously known from Shark Tank, partners with local entrepreneurs to ship the fresh lobster to locally-owned small food carts — or straight to homes. It is now headquartered in Glendale, California, and has 46 food trucks as well as five restaurant locations.

The Portland food cart’s menu features buttery lobster rolls, bisque, chowder, and other lobster specialties like tots, grilled cheese, and tacos. The truck travels around the Portland metro area serving up hot lobster dishes fresh from Maine.

“We see a good amount of people who just come to grab food, and maybe they stop in,” Pope said. “I love Sherwood, the community is great. Everybody looks out for one another, so I love doing business in Sherwood for sure.”
