SHERWOOD, Ore. — The local Sherwood Sun newspaper is under new ownership.

On Monday, Jan. 5, the Sherwood Sun was acquired by Active Media Publishing Group.

Aurora-based Active Media has over 25 years of print experience across more than 60 magazines and newspapers in Oregon and Washington.

Its existing publications include Mom Magazine, Community Advantage Magazines, NW Kids Magazine, NW Women in Business magazine, The Mountain Times newspaper, and Salem’s West Side Newspaper.

“As a strong believer in the power of local print media, I am super excited to help bring The Sherwood Sun to everyone in Sherwood," said Matt Nelson, owner of Active Media.

The Sherwood Sun was launched in September 2025 by Founding Editor Jules Rogers as an independent, family-run digital publication with a weekly newsletter.

The Sherwood Sun covers news from the Sherwood City Council, schools, businesses, community, and events before they happen, all local to Sherwood.

“We are proud to team up with Active Media,” Rogers said. “We believe Active Media’s mission aligns with the goals of The Sun to provide meaningful, local news to Sherwoodians in a way that keeps our community connected and informed.”

Plans for The Sun include continuing its weekly digital newsletters, and launching a new monthly print edition coming soon to mailboxes across Sherwood.
