Archer Glen Fun Run to raise money for Sherwood student education, enrichment

SHERWOOD, Ore. — A big fundraiser is slated to help a local elementary school support student programs, and, with fingers crossed, future campus improvements. Archer Glen PAC is dreaming big by working toward the possibility of a new or updated track, subject to district approval and available funding.

Archer Glen Elementary School is hosting its annual Fun Run on Friday, October 2, 2026 at its track.

Every year, about 300 students participate in the Fun Run, according to Olivia Esterly, volunteer coordinator of the Archer Glen Parents Association Committee (PAC).

At the Fun Run, students collect pledges to run laps.

“Students are encouraged to collect pledges to run laps by reaching out to family, friends, and their parent’s colleagues for donations,” Esterly said. “The money they raise goes to support student education and enrichment.”

The funds raised provide teachers and administrators the funds needed to purchase supplies, go on field trips, do art projects, hold assemblies, improve playground equipment, and have classroom parties.

“Our school is in need of a new track,” Esterly said. “We are hopeful that, with the Fun Run being one of our biggest fundraising events, we will be able to bring in enough money by the end of this year to replace the current one –  with the approval of the district.”

Last year, Esterly said the funds raised from the Fun Run were split among the grades and speciality classes such as PE and STEM.

“The teachers and staff were able to select items that would benefit their students directly,” Esterly said.

Local companies also sponsor the event, helping give back to the community, and have their logo placed on the Fun Run T-shirts that students, staff, and volunteers receive.

“(Sponsors) are directly investing in the success of our students and helping fund programs and experiences that enrich every child's education,” Esterly said. “It is a meaningful way to demonstrate a commitment to supporting local schools and families while building lasting connections within the community.”

She said sponsors are recognized throughout Sherwood as valued community partners.

“Sponsorships strengthen the connection between local businesses and our school, showing our students that their community is invested in their success,” Esterly said. “Together, we can create an even more memorable event while making a lasting impact on our school.”

To become a sponsor, contact PAC president Jessica Schmeckpeper at archerglenpacpresident@gmail.com before September 4 to be included in this year’s event.

“This is a fun and exciting event to be involved with, but it takes teamwork,” Esterly said. “We will be looking for parents to help with preparing packets early in September, assorted tasks during the event, tallying pledge money after the event, and distributing prizes if they meet their goal.”

The Archer Glen PAC organizes several other events throughout the year, for fundraising and for fun.

“We plan the Spring Carnival, set up fundraising “Dine Outs” at local restaurants, organize the talent show, host Bingo Night, and so much more,” Esterly said.
