Th3 Electric aims to tackle electrical needs of Sherwood
A new electrician is in town

SHERWOOD, Ore. — Still in his first year as owner of TH3 Electric, Tony Goff is becoming acquainted with the electrical needs of his Sherwood neighbors.
Goff, a Sherwood resident for about six years, has traveled the country, gaining valuable electrical experience in Mississippi, Oklahoma, Ohio, Reno and Sacramento.
“I started as an electrician at a power plant,” Goff said. “From there I worked at a casino, from there I worked at a data center.”
Goff’s other jobs have included solar farm work in Washington State.
Goff said it got to the point where he was away from home a lot, and away from his eight-year-old daughter.
“We (along with his wife Taylor) kind of spitballed a lot of options and we decided to see where the resistance was on starting a business,” he said, noting that once started in Sherwood, TH3 Electric was able to start getting clients within the first week.
For Goff, safety, both in homes and businesses, is a must.
“Being in the industry for as long as I have, I have seen a fair amount of accidents with construction in general, particularly in the Deep South where the incident rate is a little higher,” he said. “I think I do have a bit of respect for if you don’t take this stuff seriously, you can seriously hurt yourself.”
Goff, as of early summer, does not have specific plans for his electrical business, noting he is still in the experimental phase.
In Sherwood and beyond, TH3 Electric has worked on projects including electric vehicle charges and electrical panel work.
Though TH3 is able to do well thanks to its adaptability, Goff said there may be a need to hire additional workers. Currently, Goff and his wife run the business.
Goff does his repair work both in Sherwood and outside the immediate area.
“We also have some commercial jobs we’ve been getting,” he added. “We got called out to do a retirement center. All of their landscape lighting was installed in a way that wasn’t very code compliant. We came out, we created a safe situation for them and proposed a bunch of safer ways to do the install to where it’s not so susceptible to damage.”
TH3 handles both residential and business assignments.
“Honestly, the most I have right now is residential … the only reason why it is our predominant field right now is because there is so much residential (work),” Goff said. “Also, commercial people are a little bit more skeptical of hiring a smaller contractor.”
He added, “The few times we’ve been able to get our foot in the door with a commercial place, we’ve always been able to knock their socks off.”
Goff is confident that even though a lot of his recent jobs have been outside Sherwood, more jobs will take place in Sherwood itself.
“Sherwood has actually been one of the few places that we haven’t been able to get a whole lot of work in,” he said. “I think that’s just being a little unlucky. But I foresee us locking in Sherwood before too long.”
While TH3 is currently (as of early summer) a two-pronged business (Goff and Taylor), Goff sees a future where he can add apprentices and journeymen.
“I would expect it to work like this,” he said. “I get a little busy, I get an apprentice … he would stay with me for a couple of years, he would eventually turn into a journeyman and that journeyman would ideally stick around.”
While Goff focuses on work at homes and businesses, Taylor works on the paperwork.
“She never really had the experience in the electrical industry, so I’m having to teach her a lot,” he said. “Before we even started, I was kind of asking is this something you want to do with me or is this something where I do my thing and you do yours?”
Goff continued, “She seemed pretty adamant that she does want to help me with this. I've kind of been teaching her the aspects of it to where she can do the admin level stuff, which is like planning, scheduling, helping other customers.”
